Pain, swelling, inflammation or infection are associated with certain types of toothaches. When a tooth becomes infected to the point it develops a full-blown abscess a root canal may be needed to treat the infection.
Causes of infections inside a tooth’s root canal:
- Decay
- Untreated Cavity
- Trauma to the tooth
- Crack in the tooth
- Lost Filling
To correct this issue, the affected tissue is removed and the canal is disinfected. Once infection has been completely removed the canal is filled to eliminate further infection.
